Where are SeaVees made?
SeaVees are designed in California and responsibly made in Vietnam.
Why is that?
Most SeaVees styles are vulcanized, a traditional footwear construction method that dates back more than 100 years. Vulcanization is a specialized process where the upper is stitched, wrapped with rubber foxing tape, and then heat-pressed in a vulcanizing oven to permanently bond the materials together.
This type of manufacturing is no longer widely available in the United States. The last U.S. vulcanizing factory closed in the 1990s, and the specialized equipment and craftsmanship required for this process moved overseas.
Because of this, we work closely with long-standing partner factories in Vietnam that specialize in this construction and share our commitment to quality craftsmanship.
We’re passionate about the benefits of a true vulcanized sneaker, from durability to the unique finishing process that cannot be replicated through modern shortcuts. We remain closely involved with our factories to ensure every pair meets our standards.
We also want to assure you that the working conditions and production methods used to make SeaVees are held to high standards and reflect our commitment to responsible manufacturing.
